The bible tells us so many things, and like other subjects, it pulls no punches in telling you who you are to God. I stated the other day that some of the greatest things God has done for His children are the very things we tend to shy away from believing. Well I want to encourage you today that, you are what God says you are. He is not trying to flatter you with platitudes. Second, don’t think that because you’re not perfect “yet”, or because you just sinned the same sin for the 100 time that God would have a problem with you claiming who you are to Him. He doesn’t, our Father’s mission is to justify the ungodly (Rom 4:5), and even though your sins be like scarlet He’s going to make them white as snow (Isa 1:18). Also avoid false humility, where you tell yourself your not good enough to be what God says you are or where you think its being humble by not claiming and believing what God says about you!
We need to claim who we are to Him, to reaffirm in our minds the spiritual reality to our earthly existence. As we believe this over what we see in our daily doings on earth, we will have the resilience to deal with life’s heart aches, the resolve to deal with situations and people that contradict what Gods says, and we’ll find that we are anchored from within, keeping bound on the path to Him. The realization of who you are to God will keep you from cheapening yourself through the indulgences of cheap substitutes to real love.
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
As a Child of God you are God’s inheritance. We are thinking of what we are going to inherit once we get to heaven, but God is looking at us here on earth as the very one’s He’s inheriting. This reaffirms to me, that God’s priority in the happenings of the world is not a principle, but people and particularly His people ( 1 Pet 3:12). I am very confident that just as we watch out for the things that we have a stake in, God does the same. He has a stake in you, your His inheritance.
Look at the above scripture again, Paul is praying that we would know “the riches of glory of his inheritance”, there is an exceeding glory that is found in us as children of God and His inheritance. It doesn’t look like that right now, even as I type my surroundings does not impress that message on my soul, but its true. There is great glory, and Paul says, “riches of glory” found in you and I as God’s inheritance. We do not have to be ignorant about this.
Here are a couple of scriptures and a video for you!
