The Great Conspiracy

March 17, 20123 Comments

Former President Richard M. Nixon said “there can be no whitewash at the White House”, this came during a speech in response to the now famous Watergate scandal that rocked his administration. We indeed know that there was a “white wash at the White House”, an attempt to cover and clean up a scandalous “campaign of political spying and sabotage”.   However, we stand and live in the midst of a greater conspiracy, it’s epic and makes the cover up in the White House look like a childs play, it’s the attempt to tarnish, disfigure and cover up the heart of God and make Him appear bad, even worst untrustworthy, and contemptible. This is the converse of the “white wash at the White House”, this is the attempt to turn the only completely holy, righteous and loving God, into one that’s disdained and distrustful.

In Milton’s Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained, he artistically puts into words how he envisioned the conversation Lucifer had with his host of fallen angels after the ousting from heaven.  This is a snippet of his delivery as he points he followers to their next target, Earth and God’s new creation.

By sudden onset, either with Hell fire to waste his whole Creation, or possess all as our own, and drive as we were driven, the puny inhabitants, or if not drive, seduce them to our party, that their God may prove their foe

Christoper Ricks ed. Milton: Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained.

Having been defeated once, attacking heaven again wasn’t a good option instead, they set their minds on the new world, where a new creation dwelt, and it’s there they set to strike a blow to God that they could otherwise not do, by aiming at earth and attacking God’s object of Love.

Satan’s goal: if we can’t “drive” them, if we can’t exterminate them from earth, then seduce them to our side so that their God would prove their foe. The beginning of the greatest conspiracy ever; to turn the only holy, righteous, and loving God and creator into our foe and chief hater! However, God can’t change, so the “seducing” of us and the attempt to jaundice of our minds and hearts towards God and to be fearful of Him was the plan.  “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden… and Adam and his wife hid themselves…”(Gen 3:8)  “…I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid…” (Gen 3:10)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1Pe 5:8 NKJV)

Satan lurks about, but I have not heard of one person getting eaten by a suspicious looking lion. However I know of plenty of people who think God does not exist, or if He does, He doesn’t care and is not for them. What’s of most concern is for those who attend places of worship, praise Him, but don’t trust Him, and thinks He’s distantly aloof in heaven. This is where I step back and look at the man in the mirror. Do I believe God is as good as He says He is?  Do I really trust Him to be my number one advocate?  If Satan is going to devour, we know it’s going to be through lies, he’s the father of lies, and the greatest lie is that the heart of our Heavenly Father is not good and can’t be trusted.  He’s compelling with his persuasions as he uses earth’s calamities to get us to distrust the heart of our Heavenly father.  “Look at the starving children in Africa, will God really provide for you?” He is the Accuser, even accusing God to us, “God’s doesn’t show up when you need Him”.

Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! (Mat 7:9-11 NKJV)

There will probably be another “white wash at the White House”, but let not our hearts be jaundiced towards our God.  Jesus’ point is clear, if we think we can trust others, we can trust God more so, because God is good, He is our heavenly Father and He desires to give good things to His children when we ask. We can trust the heart of the Father, He is our number one advocate, always loving and patient towards us, He endeavors to be kind, and the richness of His blessings for us are unimaginable.

May the great conspiracy not be true in you and me, and may faith find homes in our hearts, may trust flourish towards our God, may the Lord help us with our unbelief and release us into the sweet rest of believing God.

Yes, you are right. Satan is a liar, and he comes only to kill, steal, and destroy. However, God says He came so that we may have life, and have it more abundantly. You are a good writer, and I am glad to see that you are using it for the work of God. Keep up the good work.
