One life to Live, Really?!

Jesus said to her,“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” (Joh 11:25 NKJV)

“I am the resurrection and the life!”  Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, but now He’d have to do it for Himself.  The time came and Jesus was crucified and gave up his spirit, His physical body hung there limp, for all intents and purposes on this side of heaven, He was dead.  But on the third day, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, went to find a body and the tomb was empty! Jesus had risen from the dead, now the promise remains for His believers;”Though he may die, he shall live”.

The Truth is always freeing, in fact that is the promise (John 8:32).  If we forget that there is another life, and live in ignorance, or in unbelief.  We have set ourselves up for the biggest scam this world has to offer: “Live it up now, you only have one life to live!”  This is a lie for a believer, and it has the same effects on people as the sales man who says, “I only have one in stock, better get it NOW!”  It pressures and strikes at the core of our allegiance; who will we live for? God or ourselves! I know the pressure of trying to live right, but I have to admit trying to live, enjoy and do it all has to be more of a burden.  To be sure, its plain right out deception.

Jesus guaranteed and ensured this promise for us by destroying deaths grip on His life, and to all who He gives life.  Not only has the sting of death been taken away, but the sting of only having one life, its been taken away too.  The mad rush to get it all in now, is not for us believers, we have a life to come, confirmed by Jesus Himself.  Let that thought simmer in a bit, we can live this life for Him because death is not our end, it’s another beginning.

One life to live and this is all I got, thinking!.  I wonder how much of this thought process, pressured and pushed people to spend, incur debt, have cosmetic surgeries, abortions, murder, commit suicide, divorce, steal and destroy others just because they couldn’t bear the thought of allowing their “one life” to be hindered or obstructed.  I write knowing of a person who committed suicide just weeks ago because of losing a job, leaving behind family and kids!  We can also look at the church, how many ministries have not been started because the person chose to live it all up for themselves, instead of for Him.  For the unbeliever it’s expected, but how much of this has effected the believer to whom this promise was given.

His plan is to resurrect all of His believers.  For certain, the believer has not only this life, but they have Jesus the life and resurrection abiding in them . Death will not be our end, it’s just another beginning.  We don’t have to live under the pressure to attain it all, consume it all, and do it all. We don’t have to fear the setbacks of this life either.  We can live in full allegiance and obedience to Jesus, without fear of sacrificing our only life; we have another life to come!

Hallelujah, He is risen

Hallelujah, He is risen! Death for aye has lost his sting; Christ, Himself the Resurrection, From the grave “His own” will bring: He is risen, He is  risen, Living Lord and coming King.
